SILICON VALLEY STEAK MASTERS

• SVSM membership shall be limited to no more than ten (10).  If there are less than ten members at any given time, then current members can consider additions but only those prospective members earning a 2/3rds majority of all current members shall be invited.

 

• SVSM members who miss three (3) dinners in a row—unless impaled by a steer—shall be removed as member but for a unanimous vote of the current members.

 

• Attire at dinner events shall be in keeping with appropriate decorum.

 

• The SVSM will attempt to meet quarterly.  Each dinner shall be no-host, except for the pre-dinner cocktail hour.

 

• A steakhouse may be located within the greater Silicon Valley.

 

• A steakhouse must have at least 4 steaks on the menu and embrace the spirit of a steakhouse to be considered.

 

• Always celebrate someone’s birthday, whoever’s is the next one following the dinner.

 

• The dinner host must post his blog/comments within one week of the dinner or the penalty is paying for the bar portion of the next dinner tab.

 

• The penalty for other attending SVSM for a failure to blog/comment within 2 weeks of dinner is splitting the next pre-dinner bar tab (even if you’re not there to enjoy it).  If you are the only one not providing blog/comments, then you’ll be the only one paying the next pre-dinner bar tab.

 

• If you cancel within 24 hours of dinner, you must do a shot of the groups choosing post dinner at the next steak night.

 

• New members must wear a bow tie or tie and have a few words prepared for their inaugural dinner (therefore, inaugural dinner is coat and tie).

 

• On occasion and by approval of 2/3rds the current members, the SVSM shall invite distinguished guests to join the assembled group with the express intention of SVSM enlightenment on various matters of interest.  In such cases, the SVSM guest’s meal costs shall be split amongst the SVSM members in attendance at such gathering.

 

• Each experience will be rated on a five star scale, 5 stars being the highest possible score. The categories for rating are food, bar/wine list, service and ambiance. An overall rating will be awarded as well.
